The Masai Mara National Reserve is one of Kenya’s most famous and celebrated wildlife reserves, known for its breathtaking landscapes, abundant wildlife, and the iconic annual migration of wildebeest. The Mara River, one of the prominent features of the reserve, is crucial during the Great Migration when thousands of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles cross it, sometimes perilously, in search of fresh grazing areas. Masai Mara is home to an impressive range of wildlife, including the Big Five—lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, and rhinos. It is also known for its large populations of cheetahs, hyenas, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, impalas, and various species of birds, making it one of the richest wildlife regions in Africa.
